Looking for the official press release? Read it here.
- What is Switchvox Hosted Edition?
- Switchvox Hosted Edition is a software platform that includes an underlying operating system, and a virtualization environment that enables many copies of Switchvox IP PBX software to run on the same server in your data center. It provides IP PBX functionality to several small businesses, all from a single server.
- What hardware does it run on?
- Typically deployed on a standard 1U server, Switchvox Hosted Edition can run on machines with a minimum of 4 processor cores, 320GB Hard Drive, and 8 GB RAM.
- What is the capacity?
- In the above listed hardware configuration, Switchvox Hosted Edition supports 200 concurrent calls across the whole server. It is most commonly deployed with 20 copies of Switchvox installed on each server.
- Who is it sold to?
- Switchvox sells Switchvox Hosted Edition to businesses such as ISPs, ITSPs, commercial real estate managers, or any other service provider seeking to offer their small business customers a hosted PBX that can easily migrate individual companies’ configurations to a server at the small business’ location.
- How can it be both hosted and on premise?
- Switchvox Hosted Edition is a virtualized version of the same Switchvox software that has been sold as an on-premise solution for years. By enabling the software to work in this high-density fashion, Switchvoxes can be deployed and re-deployed using the existing backup mechanism inside the Switchvox software. Simply take a backup of the virtual Switchvox and apply it to an on-site dedicated server. It only takes a few clicks!
- What about features?
- Because the software inside the virtualized environment of Switchvox Hosted Edition is the same as current editions of Switchvox, the all features and benefits of Switchvox are available as in the hosted offering.
