In recent years PBX has helped revolutionize business communications. Quantum leaps in technology have created substantial cost-savings for business and advanced integration capability to levels before not thought possible. In addition the PBX flexibility fits any industries needs.

What is PBX? PBX stands for Private Branch eXchange and is a privately owned phone system maintained and used by organizations to route and handle phone calls.

Switchvox offers a PBX that sits between the users of an organization and the phone company, allowing the organization to operate more efficiently than it would if each user had a normal telephone on their desk.

PBX is often considered an ideal solution that puts users in control of their most important asset in business, their voice.

The Switchvox PBX connects to the public phone system directly through analog phone lines, digital interface or VOIP service providers as a way to centrally control and route calls coming into and out of an organization.

Switchvox is very versatile and can be set up in many configurations. One way to use Switchvox is as an interface to the PSTN, where normal analog or digital T1 lines come into the PBX and calls are routed in and out through those connections, the company says.

In this setup, users wouldn’t use a VOIP provider, so they do not need a broadband Internet connection. Switchvox does, however, need to connect over the Internet to their data center in order to check for updates and for registration purposes, so some kind of Internet connection is required, according to the company.
